Dr. Zanlin Yu has recently joined NINDS as the Director for the new Cryo-EM Core. Dr. Yu received his PhD in 2015 from the Technion-Israel institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel. Dr. Yu has extensive and excellent training in cryo-EM technology. He has trained in two of the leading cryo-EM laboratories in the world and most recently managed the cryo-EM facility at University of California – San Francisco (UCSF), which is one of the best in the Nation. He has widespread hands-on experience with managing and upholding a cryo-EM facility.
Dr. Yu is creative and has extensive experience training users on the instrumentation for electron microscopy in addition to troubleshooting technical issues. He has published peer reviewed publications and manuscripts documenting both fundamental experimental results, and technical advances in cryo-EM technology. Dr. Zanlin Yu brings a wealth of experience to lead the core and enhance the Intramural Program.
