Previously a Staff Scientist, Dr. Sati is currently Special Volunteer with NINDS, earned his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Physics in France. After completing a postdoctoral experience at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, he joined the National Institutes of Health in 2009.

Currently, Dr. Sati was involved in a number of intramural NIH studies as well as extramural U.S. and international collaborative imaging studies. He also supported the NINDS through  participation in various intramural committees which included animal care and use, as well as staff recruitment. Dr. Sati is also a member of the North American Imaging in MS (NAIMS) Cooperative.

Dr. Sati has a broad background in electronics and physics, with specific training and expertise in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and neuroimaging. For the past 10 years, he has worked on imaging multiple sclerosis (MS) with high-field and ultra-high-field MRI systems. His current research focuses on discovering novel imaging biomarkers for better diagnosing and monitoring MS. Dr. Sati is particularly interested in the development and deployment of novel MRI techniques with the goal to improve clinical practice and clinical trials. His work also includes imaging of animal models of MS, and more specifically small non-human primates with experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis, to reduce the current gap between preclinical and clinical studies and accelerate the translation of promising candidate therapies for MS.
