Carol joined NINDS intramural in 2021 as a program specialist in the Office of Research Training and Career Development. She provides a broad range of services and administrative support to the office, including key activity tracking, event planning for various training initiatives, grants management, acquisitions, calendar maintenance, and coordination of professional development workshops.

Carol Carnahan began her over 30-year government career at NIH with the Division of Research Grants as a technical assistant, then moved to NCI in various grants administration roles. After graduating from the University of Maryland, University College, she moved to the Department of State for several years working as a program assistant, and then returned to NIH to work with NHGRI in the extramural Center for Inherited Disease Research (CIDR) Program. After her time with NHGRI, Carol accepted a position in the NICHD Office of the Scientific Director where she worked as a staff assistant before moving to the intramural Office of Education as a program specialist.
