Training/Career Development Focus: Grant Writing Workshop Series

Monday, May 16, 2022 | 1:00 - Wednesday, May 18, 2022 | 4:30

The first two workshops are scheduled for May 16/17 and will address both practical and conceptual aspects important to the proposal writing process for various NIH grants. The third workshop on May 18 will specifically focus on writing an NIH Career Development Award.

This three ½-day virtual workshop (1 - 4:30 pm) will emphasize idea development, identification of the most appropriate granting agency, writing for reviewers, and tips and strategies that are of proven value in presenting an applicant's case to reviewers. Participants are taught to write with a linear progression of logic, which leads reviewers through their applications. It is stressed that applicants are writing for two different audiences – the assigned reviewers, who have read the application in its entirety, and non-assigned reviewers who may have read little, or nothing, of the proposal before the review panel's meeting. Strategies, tools, and tips are emphasized to merit a fundable priority score.

All training events sponsored by the Office of Research Training and Career Development (RTCD) are only offered to current NINDS fellows.  If you are interested in registering for this workshop series or have any questions, please email the RTCD team at dirtraining@ninds.nih.gov.
