The NINDS has over 40 research sections and units listed on this page (generally referred to as “labs”), all conducting cutting-edge neuroscience in a unique research environment that fosters collaboration. Labs conduct research in the basic, translational, and clinical neurosciences. Some are organizationally grouped under larger Branches or Labs with common research interests and shared resources. To learn more about these investigators and their research programs, visit the sites linked below and contact investigators for more details.

NINDS Adjunct Investigators

NINDS further supports several researchers who participate in the NINDS intramural program as Adjunct Investigators. While their primary appointment is with another NIH Institute, these Adjunct Investigators often collaborate closely with NINDS researchers, frequently share resources, and contribute to the NINDS mission.

Scientist Emeriti

NINDS supports several Scientist Emeriti. This is a special designation given to retired scientists who remain actively involved in the NINDS intramural program. These individuals often mentor junior investigators and trainees, collaborate on research projects, contribute to leadership committees and strategic planning initiatives, and/or continue to publish research. The honorary title recognizes their distinguished service and ongoing contributions to the NINDS community.
