Karen Kendrick has a bachelor’s degree in Business Management.  She also spent many years teaching, tutoring and mentoring students as well as children and teens with disabilities.  After 20 years of working in the private sector as an administrator in business and healthcare, Karen joined the National Institutes of Health in July 2008. She began her career at NIH as a program technician for National Institutes of Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI), working to support the lab for the director of National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney (NIDDK) in the Molecular and Clinical Hematology Branch.  She played an integral part in the administration of the medical team researching cures for Sickle Cell Disease.  She then joined the NINDS as an office manager in August 2017, supporting the administration of multiple labs.  In all, Karen provides over 30-years of teaching, mentoring and administrative support.  In February 2022, Karen joined the NINDS Office of Research Training and Career Development as a Program Specialist, to support the development and coordination of various intramural training initiatives, programs, and policies.
