L. Christine Turtzo, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Christine Turtzo is the neurologist for the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Acute Studies Core in the Acute Cerebrovascular Diagnostics Unit, NINDS. She completed her undergraduate studies at Swarthmore College, then obtained an M.D. and a Ph.D. from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

After medical internship at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, she completed her neurology residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Her training continued with a postdoctoral fellowship on sex differences in stroke with Dr. Louise McCullough at the University of Connecticut Medical Center, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship on neuroinflammation in traumatic brain injury models with Dr. Joseph Frank at NIH through the Center for Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine. In 2015 she joined the NIH as the Staff Clinician with Dr. Lawrence Latour’s TBI team. She is board certified in Neurology.
